Risk Management

REGISTERING ADULTS
WITH BSYSC

Official protocols for the Adult Participation Pass (APP), coaching licenses, and mandatory background checks.

The Adult Participation Pass (APP)

The adult ID Card and the KidSafe Pass are combined into one card known as the Adult Participation Pass (APP). This card confirms that the adult is properly registered for the current seasonal year and has cleared the required background check.

Visibility Protocol
Must be visible at all times at the fields, especially on the team sideline.
Physical Requirements
A recent photo must be affixed, and the card must be laminated. Pass colors change yearly.
Team Assignments
Not included on the card. Only one card is needed if volunteering for multiple teams.

Note: At state-sponsored events, no adult will be allowed on the sideline without an Adult Participation Pass. When forming a team, one individual should be designated as the head coach. All others should be identified as an assistant, manager, trainer, or volunteer.

Mandatory Registration Requirements

Effective immediately, to meet South Texas Youth Soccer Association’s Risk Management criteria, each club officer, staff member, board member, coach, and team manager/official over the age of 17 must complete the following three components (STYSA Rule 3.15.1 & 3.15.2.1):

  • 01
SafeSport Training Modules EVERY adult is considered a mandatory reporter. When you have a reasonable suspicion or belief that abuse is occurring or has occurred, you are legally required to report to authorities within 24 hours.
  • 02
CDC Concussion Awareness Training Required education on recognizing and responding to head trauma.

Coaching Licenses & System Administration

Registered coaches must hold a currently effective coaching license or certificate, or obtain one within one year of their initial registration as a coach (Rule 3.2.10).

GotSoccer Integration

All three mandatory risk management components are linked through the individual coach or manager account in GotSoccer. They must be completed before an adult can be added to a team roster.

Administrator Verification: To check risk management, go to the “State” tab then to “Coaches.” To see fully compliant coaches, filter by Risk Management Status “Approved” and set courses to “Completed” for “All Courses.” You may export this to an Excel spreadsheet.
